1955 in Wels geboren, folgte Josef Hoflehner nach Abschluss der Hotelfachschule seiner Leidenschaft als Fotograf. Es entstanden künstlerische Serien von Landschaften und Metropolen weltweit, meist in dramatischen schwarz/weiß Impressionen, wofür Hoflehner damit 2007 zum „Nature Photographer of the year“ gewählt wurde. Von 2009-2011 folgte die Serie der JET AIRLINER.
Um solche gigantische Momente fototechnisch fest zu halten, verbrachte Josef Hoflehner und sein Sohn Jakob Hoflehner mehr als zwei Monate auf der Karibikinsel St. Maarten, auf dem einzigartigen Strand Maho Beach, direkt neben der kurzen Rollbahn des Princess Juliana International Airport. Für die fünf oder sechs Landungen am Tag harrte der Fotograf oft stundenlang aus, um diesen einen, unwiederbringlichen Augenblick mit einer 6x6 Hasselblad SWC festhalten zu können: „Du hast nur eine Sekunde, um den Schuss zu machen, oder das Flugzeug ist weg“.
Josef Hoflehner ist weltweit in mehreren namhaften Sammlungen und Galerien vertreten.
Josef Hoflehner was born 1955 in Wels (Upper Austra). After graduating at the hotel management school, Josef Hoflehner, followed his passion in photography. He created artistic series of landscapes and metropolises all around the world in dramatic black/white impressions, for which he got elected to the “Nature Photographer oft the year“ in 2007.
From 2009 – 2011 the series JETLINER followed.
To capture such gigantic moments photographically, Josef Hoflehner and his son Jacob spent more than two months at the Caribbean Island St. Marteen on the incomparable Maho Beach, next to the short runway of the Princess Juliana International Airport. The photographers often waited several hours for the 5 - 6 landings a day to capture the one irretrievable moment with a 6x6 Hasselblad SWC camera: “You just have a second to make the shot or the plane is gone”
